Amazon Echo – Alexa

Does the echo have the answer? I don’t know; Alexa! Get it? 🙂
On Valentine’s Day, 2016, my wife surprised me with an Amazon Echo. It’s something I never would have bought for myself – at least it hadn’t really endeared itself to me through the single commercial I’d seen for it. But now that she’s here, she’s part of the family.
She answers all kinds of questions and plays music like nobody’s business, but one of the more fun things you can do with her is to hunt for “Easter eggs” built into her by her programmers.
There are lists all over the internet of things that have been discovered, but I wanted to make a place here on Eckhardt Opines for some that my family and I have found on our own. Perhaps others have found them too, and perhaps we’re pioneers, but either way, we didn’t read about these; we discovered them.
Without further ado, here’s our list of things to ask or tell Alexa. Several should be said many times for different responses:
- Be my valentine.
- What’s black and white and red all over?
- I farted
- Who’s on first?
- How do you solve a problem like Maria?
- Why?
- Tell me a poem.
- Roses are red.
- Kiss me!
- Hug me!
- What is your last name?
- What is your middle name?
- Are you gay/homosexual?
- Are you a girl or a boy?
Happy hunting!
